STE(A)M Tall Tower Challenge
Amazing Grace Middle School STE(A)M Tall Tower Challenge project included science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Each team member took on a role of project manager, research manager, materials manager, documentation manager, and complied all of their project documentation into a Microsoft OneNote Notebook. Part of their documentation of the project required a mini-documentary on the process of learning using Windows Movie Maker. Some teams also incorporated Microsoft AutoCollage in their documentary. As a team of engineers, they had the challenge of building the tallest tower using only 50 straws, 50 pipe cleaners, and 25 paperclips. They were not required to use all the materials, but their tower needed to support the weight of a golf ball for two minutes. The golf ball needed to be supported near the top of the tower, with the bottom of the ball no more than 20% below the upper height of the tower.
